Position Summary

  • Reports to SMD, Head of Portfolio Management responsible for portfolio management for a set of key Insurance clients.
  • Insurance Portfolio Management team oversees $140 billion of assets under management across 30 clients incorporating multiple portfolios per client contributing to annual revenues of over $150 million.
  • Partners with clients as key point of client interaction on PM Team for portfolio strategy and maximizing client relationships
  • Leads portfolio design and restructuring based on the firms non-indexed asset category expertise in complex structured securities, asset backed securities, alternative investments, and other esoteric asset classes.
  • Manages portfolio strategy – active portfolio management, multiple portfolio strategies, trading program design to meet client’s business needs.
  • Assures client’s investment objectives are met through proper portfolio design and investment strategy.
  • Advanced knowledge in Insurance regulatory, tax and accounting drawn on to consult with clients on navigating the complexities of insurance industry.
  • Proficiency on Insurance industry results in ability to act as trusted advisor to insurance client’s staff.
  • Supports client on Asset/Liability Management, portfolio and actuarial support for PM team.
  • Partners with clients to analyze potential external reinsurance blocks, company acquisitions, internal reinsurance strategies, Bermuda regulatory trusts

Essential Job Functions

Client Partnership

  • Member of the Portfolio Management team that delivers superior customer service
  • Supports client communication at various levels and stays current with client’s business needs.
  • Coordinates ad hoc client requests and projects, including client M&A and Reinsurance transactions.
  • Monitors the client relationship and client deliverables for timeliness and quality standards
  • Assists senior portfolio managers, sector teams and Insurance strategists to understand client business needs and implement investment process and strategies to address.
  • Partners with operations team to develop and enhance procedures that improve quality of the insurance client experience.
  • Assists on client presentations, meetings and other ad hoc analyses.
  • Monitors the new client onboarded process to assure high quality client service.
  • Coordinates client workflows and develop consistent reporting and communication standards.

Insurance Industry Expertise

  • Stays current with Insurance industry regulatory developments.
  • Participates in NAIC calls and meetings and develops relationships with industry participants.
  • Works with clients on understanding Regulatory matters and assist in planning efforts
  • Support the PM team on insurance industry matters and accounting consultation relevant to our client’s business

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical foundation to grasp various fixed income investment strategies.
  • Problem solving skills and developing ability to independently lead or participate on projects and analyze processes and procedures as assigned.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organized, detail oriented and thorough while developing communication skills to ensure work processes are completed as directed.
  • Team oriented individual with ability to work well with diverse groups.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree required, preferably with concentrations in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field. MBA and/or CFA is preferred
  • 6 years (VP) 10+ years (Director) of relevant experience

Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience.
