Position Summary

The Leveraged Finance Group is a rapidly growing and critically important strategic initiative for Guggenheim Securities. Over the past year, the Leveraged Finance team has acted as sole or lead-left arranger / bookrunner on numerous financing transactions for our public, private, and sponsor-backed clients. In addition, on many of the firm’s M&A transactions, the Leveraged Finance team serves as an integrated part of the deal team to support the acquisition financing package.


Our Associates play a key role in the origination and execution of our financing transactions, evolving and enhancing our client and lender relationships, and acting as a product partner to our Investment Banking industry and financial sponsor coverage teams. Our Associates benefit tremendously from the experience and partnership they have with our Senior Managing Directors and Managing Directors. We pride ourselves on the dedication we give to our Associates’ development, which in turn helps assist in supporting and cultivating our growing team of Leveraged Finance bankers.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work hand-in-hand with senior Leveraged Finance origination bankers to evaluate, pitch, and execute financing transactions across the firm’s industry and other product verticals
  • Lead day-to-day deal execution and project management on a range of financing transactions including credit due diligence, cash flow modeling, lender presentation creation, and lender outreach and due diligence facilitation
  • Monitor and present current debt capital market trends alongside the Guggenheim Fixed Income Capital Markets team
  • Underwritten transaction evaluation including opportunity screening, underwriting memos, and commitment paper review / negotiation
  • Lead junior banker development, mentorship, and training and manage a deal team throughout the lifecycle of a transaction
  • Build and develop relationships with internal and external clients through ongoing engagement and demonstration of financing knowledge

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-3 years of Leveraged Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Financial Sponsors or similar type roles within an investment bank
  • Will also consider individuals with experience in credit investing (BDC, direct lending, CLO) or other related credit roles (underwriting, research or rating agency)
  • Self-starter and entrepreneurial with the initiative and ability to grow with expanding group
  • Effective process management abilities, excellent analytical skills and strong written and oral communication skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 3-5 years of Leveraged Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Financial Sponsors or similar type roles within an investment bank
  • SIE Exam, Series 79 and Series 63 must be acquired within 150 days of employment

Salary Details

  • Annual base salary between $175,000 and $225,000.
  • The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
  • Currently, this role is expected to be in the ­­­­New York office at least 4 days per week.
