Position Summary

  • Reports to SMD, Head of Portfolio Management and supports senior portfolio management for a set of key Insurance clients. Insurance Portfolio Management team oversees $140 billion of assets under management across 30 clients incorporating multiple portfolios per client contributing to annual revenues of over $150 million.
  • Supports PM with client business strategy, portfolio analysis and maximizing capital efficient returns
  • Developing knowledge in Insurance regulatory, tax and business supporting the CIO and PM to design and incorporate complex structured transactions with superior yields tailored to client needs.
  • Knowledge of Insurance industry supporting portfolio design that maximize returns based on client’s specific lines of business, reinsurance treaties and/or asset liability management (ALM) requirements
  • Works on client engagements to analyze potential external reinsurance blocks, company acquisitions, internal reinsurance strategies, Bermuda regulatory trusts
  • Supports PM on portfolio redesign and restructuring based on the firms non-indexed asset category expertise in complex structured securities, asset backed securities, alternative investments, and other esoteric asset classes
  • Participates on portfolio management teams – portfolio oversight and analysis, research projects, client communication, insurance industry advisory, client projects and understanding client business needs.

Essential Job Functions

Portfolio Management

  • Supports portfolio activities working with various investment and operations teams
  • Assists in the management of Insurance portfolios to meet client guidelines, strategies, risk objectives and liquidity requirements
  • Monitors portfolios daily to ensure compliance with client guidelines, cash management needs, and other internal firm guidelines.
  • Prepares internal portfolio management reports in support of insurance portfolio managers
  • Performs analyses of insurance client performance including book yield, total return, stress testing, and performance attribution reporting in support of the portfolio manager
  • Analyzes performance attribution and monitor performance drivers across portfolios and sectors

Client Support

  •  Prepares client presentations and other ad hoc analyses for the senior portfolio managers.
  • Reviews scheduled client reports
  • Stays current with client’s business needs and assists in implementing solutions to meet those needs.
  • Supports client projects, including client M&A and Reinsurance transactions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Developing foundation in investments with focus on Fixed Income
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  •  Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Team oriented with ability to work well with diverse groups and integrate well with existing team members
  • Well-versed in standard productivity software applications (e.g. MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Experience with analytic systems a plus: Blackrock Solutions Aladdin/ANSER, Bloomberg, Barclays POINT or other research platforms

Basic Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience
  • BA/BS required with degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Math/Engineering
  • Pursuit of CFA designation is required

Salary Details

The annual base salary for this role is between $115,000 - $125,000. The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
