Position Summary

Guggenheim Retail Real Estate Partners is seeking a Senior Accountant (SA). Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Finance and Accounting. The ideal candidate for the SA position is a self-starter, strong communicator, someone who is dependable, punctual and requires little supervision. Understanding of the importance of deadlines is a critical component of this position and the successful candidate will require a strong work ethic as some overtime will be required from time to time.

 

This is not a remote position - this role is based in our Frisco, TX offices and will report in-person.

Essential Job Functions

  • Recording all revenue and invoicing functions which include monthly rents, GDS fees, and property disposals along with posting same to Workday (the Company’s general ledger platform); Compute gains/losses on disposition of assets.
  • Some management of clerical level personnel whose main responsibilities include, but are not limited to, extracting invoices out of Expesite, preparing payment applications (pay-apps) and compiling invoice packages for submission to the CEO for approval. Upon authorization from CEO, review pay-apps for accuracy and, upon assurance of same, approve pay-apps in Workday to be released for payment by treasury.
  • Oversee the month-end close process and make sure all transactions are recorded and posted to Workday in their entirety in a timely manner. The month end close process includes reconciling all balance sheet accounts including bank accounts, real estate investment accounts, prepaid insurance, debt, accounts payable and accrued liability accounts to the general ledger on a monthly basis for all legal entities (“LE”). Prepare and record all “top-side” journal entries (interest and GDS fees) by LE; assure capitalized interest is NOT expensed for projects in process.
  • Work with Legal to track projects as they complete; prepare EFT forms for tenant rent submission; compute prorated interest on projects for the month they are placed in process; and assure interest is properly accounted for on projects placed in service.
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts.
  • Respond to SVP review comments on the month-end close along with some (minimal) income statement analysis.
  • Project Cost Report (“PCR”) – Conduct interviews with project/construction managers, prepare and circulate the PCR. Enter approved budgets, project information, and update milestones in Expesite, such that they will serve as the budgets for the project cost report.
  • Prepare the weekly cash report, detailed by LE; submit it to the SVP by COB on Fridays. 
  • Record all cash transactions in the general ledger to the appropriate LE account; make wire transfer requests to title companies, etc.
  • Record closing statements into the GL, both land acquisition and disposition.
  • Provide trial balance/pivot tables on disposed assets to be utilized to compute budget to actuals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license or in process of taking exams.
  • Experience in Onestream and Workday.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Big Four or Mid-Tier public Accounting firm experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Accounting experience.
Work Location 
  • This role is expected to be in the office five days per week.
