Position Summary

Guggenheim Partners is seeking an exceptional Senior Data Engineer to join its Information Technology (IT) Applications team. This person will join a highly collaborative team responsible for designing, developing, modifying, adapting, and implementing short- and long-term solutions to information technology (IT) needs through new and existing data applications, systems architecture, network systems and data architecture. In addition, this group reviews system requirements and business processes data and codes, tests, debugs, and implements data pipeline and ELT/ETL solutions. This individual will work on the formation of information systems by developing, supporting, and maintaining software. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate and take ownership of tasks assigned.

 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Support the development of applications, which provide essential solutions for clients; may include debugging current systems and/or enhancements
  • Take ownership of tasks as assigned to ensure successful implementation; get support from experienced Software / Data Engineers as needed
  • Work with business representatives and senior engineers to understand business requirements and the reasons for them
  • Develop detailed specs for enhancements that are clearly aligned to system requirements as defined by business representatives and can be easily interpreted by the business representatives and other engineers
  • Write code according to specs and maintain continuous integrations and processes
  • May maintain databases used for development and testing, depending on the area and technical specialty
  • Work with business representatives to understand outcomes of testing phase; identify solutions to resolve basic issues; engage senior Software Engineers as needed
  • Support business representatives and other Software Engineers as needed with implementation and release activities as needed to ensure a successful delivery
  • Monitor system-wide tests to continually improve products, services, and processes
  • Monitor the implementation of system improvements and documents results
  • Apply technical expertise and work independently within scope, receiving moderate guidance and direction from work team and/or manager on large, new tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have experience in two or more of the following: Azure, Python, Spark, Synapse, C#, SQL server, advanced T-SQL skills, dimensional (star) data modelling, DataVault, database engineering and performance tuning
  • Working knowledge of the financial services industry
  • Team player attitude, good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills and superior problem-solving ability
  • Demonstrate sound logic and judgment
  • Creative and Innovative problem solving
  • Willing to learn new skills and acquire knowledge, both business and technical

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Analytics
  • 4 - 10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in Financial Services preferred

Salary Details

Annual base salary between $130,000 and $160,000.


The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
