Position Summary

Guggenheim is seeking an exceptional, self-motivated Associate to join its Client Service Support (“CSS”) team. Reporting to the CSS team manager, this person will join a highly integrated and visible team responsible for coordinating all client operational requests. In addition to strong communication and analytical skills, the ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills and an eagerness to learn. Of utmost importance, the ideal candidate will have the ability to coordinate multiple priorities at one time and will thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The Associate role presents a unique opportunity working across departments to provide a centralized and cross-functional viewpoint. The CSS Associate will need to develop relationships across multiple business areas within Guggenheim including Institutional Distribution, Portfolio Management, Trading Desks, Operations, Legal, Compliance, Fund Accounting and Tax.

The position is located in New York City or Chicago.

Essential Job Functions

  • Responsible for the on-boarding and off-boarding of Guggenheim’s separately managed accounts, coordinating across the front, middle and back offices to ensure efficient workflow and rigorous follow-up with various departments including AML/KYC, Legal and Compliance.
  • Responsible for the various transitions, legal documentation updates and other changes required by the client throughout their lifecycle.
  • Responsible for all operational client requests, coordinating prompt, accurate and thorough resolution to client inquires. Ability to manage client expectations and timing of downstream inputs, with ultimate responsibility for the final product.
  • Coordinate across various teams during the client’s audit period, ensuring a successful audit.
  • Instruct and or/process asset and cash movements during the lifecycle of a client.
  • Create and maintain customer information and documentation in various databases/systems.
  • Coordinate the operational setup of internally structured deals.
  • Coordinate the operational setup of model portfolios used by prospective/existing clients to evaluate potential opportunities.
  • Provide non-standard RFP/RFI/DDQ responses on behalf of Operations.
  • Utilize and enhance all tools for tracking client events and inquiries, including but not limited to various CSS correspondence inboxes and trackers.
  • Utilize and enhance internal and external daily dashboards and reports, used for consistent communication and transparency with relevant stakeholders and clients.
  • Help design, document and implement appropriate policies and procedures.
  • Provide assistance on various ad-hoc and special projects as directed by management.

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to identify and escalate non-standard issues to management. Must be able to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication & listening skills, with the ability to ask pointed and open-end questions necessary to provide the correct responses to the client.
  • Keen attention to detail with extraordinary attention to quality work products.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, and experience managing competing priorities/needs.
  • Team-oriented individual who enjoys working in a collaborative, dynamic team environment with ability to work well across diverse groups.
  • Experience working with a variety of systems, including Blackrock Solutions trading system, Aladdin.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills including demonstrated ability to analyze and manage large sets of interconnected data and information.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, document and implement processes that improve the accuracy and timing of work products and business activities.
  • Experience working with investment management marketing and distribution teams.
  • An independent thinker, confident in their ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Basic Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree with 3-5 years of work experience in investment management or financial services environment.
  • High to advanced proficiency in all Microsoft products, including but not limited to Excel, Visio, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with Blackrock Solutions trading system
  • Experience with projects related to enterprise data management.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment to manage a multi-stream workload
  • Detailed oriented with excellent record keeping, document organization and retention skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working within an organization distributed across geographic locations
  • Ability to forge strong relationships across functions with internal contacts
